Luxury Trekking to Salkantay
Witness breathtaking views of the Andes
The Peruvian Andes are at their most breathtaking and dramatic during this seven-day hike. Join us on an ancient and unspoiled trail called the Salkantay route as we hike during the day and stay in lodges overnight.
On your first two nights, you will have the opportunity to acclimate while exploring Inca sites and trekking to Lake Humantay, which is fed by glaciers and offers breathtaking views of Mount Salkantay. After climbing to the trail's highest point on day three, you'll begin to drop into the Santa Teresa Valley as the Salkantay River winds its way along. The sixth day of your trek will take you over the Llactapata Pass, where you will get your first view of Machu Picchu. The seventh day will see you taking the train to the citadel. Last day: return to Cusco after a guided tour of the ruins.
We go on our treks in small groups. If you are interested in trekking during your luxury trip to Peru, please inquire for a detailed itinerary. Alternately, you can arrange a private camping trip that is shorter than the whole route.
Travel to Salkantay Trekking
As you travel across diverse landscapes, you'll get to see things like foggy boulder fields, views of glacier mountain peaks, and cattle drives in remote alpine regions. Amazing landscapes, verdant flora, and fascinating ancient sites will surround you the whole way. People who live here are very attached to their Andean roots, and you will meet some of them and learn about their culture as you go.
